Building Integrated Agriculture:

We don’t have to grow food far away from the urban centers that consume it. Buildings should be designed so that they integrate the most important human needs. They should integrate water collection, energy production, and agriculture. By wisely integrating these needs into the structures within which they live, we can improve the sustainability of our societies.

Building Integrated Agriculture is a concept which proposes a solution to global food challenges: let’s integrate food production into our buildings so that we can mitigate the costs (environmental and economic) of industrial agriculture.  Let’s grow our food locally, using technologies that reduce the water and energy used, and improve the quality and distribution of food.
